Admissions PolicyBy state law, families who apply to the University of Chicago Charter School on behalf of their children must reside within the Chicago city limits. The School uses no selection criteria. Students are admitted by lottery. The Donoghue, Carter G. Woodson and Woodlawn campuses of the University of Chicago Charter School have attendance boundaries assigned to them by the Chicago Public Schools. Applicants to these campuses who are residents of the relevant attendance zone are given admissions priority. Additionally, admissions priority is given to applicants who are siblings of already enrolled students. The School generally makes applications available in December with a due date in early March, followed by a public lottery held in late March. Families may apply to more than one campus. Applications are good for one year only. That is, applicants who are not admitted in one year must reapply the next year. |
