We operate four public charter schools on the South Side of Chicago, educating children from prekindergarten to grade 12 for success in college and life. We are actively recruiting candidates for teaching positions at Woodlawn, grade six to 12 campus of the University of Chicago Charter School. We seek
teachers who will create and deliver rigorous and engaging learning
opportunities for our students. We especially welcome applications from
teachers who can provide inquiry-based and project-based instruction in
mathematics, reading, English language arts, the sciences, the social sciences,
world languages, the performing arts, and physical education/wellness
education. Additionally, we seek teachers with expertise and commitment to educating
students with exceptional needs, both in resource and inclusion settings. Qualified applicants are licensed teachers with a
bachelor's degree and urban public school teaching experience. They believe
that all children, regardless of race, culture, class, or religion, can achieve
at high levels. They have a record of accomplishment in enabling urban children
and youth to learn and achieve at high levels. Additionally, competitive
candidates demonstrate the value they place on evidence-based decision making,
making their classroom practices public for observation and feedback, engaging
families as collaborators in the academic and social development of students,
and cultural competence in drawing upon the assets of children and families to
shape curriculum and instruction. They demonstrate effective, proactive, and
student-centered classroom management strategies. Finally, they seek to
increase their capacity to educate children through professional development
and collaboration with colleagues.
